21 July 2008, Monday Yaz Day at Fenway Park Time: 9:30am - 2:30pm Location: Fenway Park, Boston, MA Yaz holds Fenway Fundraiser with Red Sox Legends July 21 event benefits the Genesis Fund The Genesis Fund and The Boston Red Sox join forces once again to present Yaz Day at Fenway Park 2008. On Monday, July, 21st, patients of the National Birth Defects Center take the field of historic Fenway Park accompanied by none other than Carl “Yaz” Yastrzemski, Red Sox Legend and The Genesis Fund’s host for the day. For one morning, the children of the NBDC have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go up to bat, to field balls off the Green Monster and to practice their pitching with some very special help: Dick Berardino, Ted Lepcio, Joe Morgan, and Jerry Moses will be on the field as honorary coaches. Corporate sponsors of The Genesis Fund, such as American Airlines, ExxonMobil, Papa Gino’s/D’Angelo’s, and Pizzeria Uno, take the field in the afternoon. All proceeds from Yaz Day at Fenway Park benefit The Genesis Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to the care and treatment of New England area children born with birth defects, mental retardation and genetic diseases. Over the past six years, this event has raised almost $500,000 for The Genesis Fund to support of The National Birth Defects Center, the Pregnancy Exposure InfoLine, and Therapy and the Performing Arts programs.
