2008 Yoga Journal Boston Conference

Here it is, the big mama of yoga events. The 2008 Yoga Journal Boston Conference flows into town from May 16 to May 19th, with a pack of celebrity yogis in tow. As if your DVD collection came to life, join Ana Forrest, Rodney Yee, Aadil Palkhivala, Bo Forbes, Shiva Rea and so many more for a weekend of restoration and rejuvination.
Participate in classes designed for the beginner to the advanced to the family, from Ashtanga to Iyengar. Yogi, Matthew Sanford and designer and activist, Donna Karan offer keynote addresses, and Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls performs a concert to benefit yogaHOPE preceded by an asana demo by Ana Forrest.

The Stoughton Build Benefit Concert ft. Lori McKenna
Country music star Lori McKenna will perform at Campanelli Stadium on May 18th in The Stoughton Build Benefit Concert. The concert is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with gates opening at the stadium at 2 p.m. VIP packages will be available for the event.

McKenna, whose latest album Unglamorous won Album of the Year at the 20th Annual Boston Music Awards, will play with special guest Mark Erelli beginning at 3 p.m. VIP tickets include a special reception at 1 p.m. at The Shaw’s Center adjacent to Campanelli Stadium. The private reception begins at 1 p.m. and features passed hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and a drawing with a chance to win an autographed guitar. VIP tickets are $75 and also include parking and reserved seating. General admission tickets are available for $25.

“We are pleased to with Lori and Mark being a part of the Stoughton Build, and excited about the upcoming concert,” said Pat Galvin, Committee Chairperson for the Stoughton Build.

A resident of Stoughton, MA, McKenna has agreed to perform the benefit concert to help raise funds for the local partnership committee to help build Stoughton’s first Habitat for Humanity home. Karen Struck and her sons, Ryan and Owen have been chosen as the first Stoughton family to purchase a Habitat Home. The average cost to build a Habitat Home is approximately $130,000. The money required to build the home is raised by a volunteer fundraising committee through events such as this concert.
