Martinis, Makeovers, and a Mission Location: Neiman Marcus Copley Place A movement to fight women’s cancers BOSTON ¾ On Thursday, April 10, a new initiative will launch in the same fashion as it was created – with women coming together to fight cancer. The twoAM Fund (two women on a mission) will address something many women share – the risk of ovarian and breast cancer. Martinis, Makeovers, and a Mission at Neiman Marcus Copley Place store in Boston will be a night of makeovers, fashion and socializing to benefit this novel movement. Proceeds from the 2008 Neiman Marcus Martinis, Makeovers, and a Mission event will directly support innovative breast and ovarian cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the twoAM Fund. TwoAM is the result of a conversation between Patty Franchi Flaherty, an ovarian cancer survivor, and Karen Webster, a breast cancer survivor. Over coffee, they talked about their cancer experiences and what could be accomplished with combined efforts to conquer both diseases and twoAM was born. Money raised for twoAM will support two funds, Catalyst for a Cure, which provides funding for metastatic breast cancer research and the Ovations for the Cure, which supports ovarian cancer research. TwoAM has three simple and straightforward objectives – to unify the communities of breast and ovarian cancer survivors, raise funds to bolster innovative research for both diseases at Dana-Farber and to use this research to explore the links between the two. The event will offer several exciting opportunities. There will be unique access to hair and makeup artists as well as trunk shows that are rarely in Boston, including Christian Louboutin’s first trunk show in the area and one featuring Nancy Gonzalez handbags. There will be on-site fashion consultations, live entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and cocktails. Guests who purchase a ticket package will have the opportunity to view a show-stopping, high-energy fashion show featuring real women wearing clothes from multiple designers. Individual tickets are $250 and ticket packages are available for $5,000, $7,500 and $10,000.
