Next best thing to being
there
|
|
|

While tens of
thousands have had the pleasure of seeing The Dropkick
Murphys play a show in front of the hometown crowd at St.
Patrick’s Day, there are just as many – maybe even more
–who just haven’t been lucky enough to squeeze into the
jam-packed room to witness the one-of-a-kind experience
that is the Dropkicks in concert.
A new CD/DVD
package, Live on Lansdowne, Boston, MA, does a great job
of capturing the energy and intensity of the band, as well
as the utter devotion of their loyal fans.
“As corny as it may sound, we really do play for our
audience,” said Dropkicks guitarist/accordionist Tim
Brennan. “It’s an amazing experience to be on that stage
and feel the energy coming at you from all those people.
You never want to let them down.”

Grab the Dramamine for green Zone
|
|
|

Someone needs to buy director Paul Greengrass a steadycam,
or at the very least a book on how to direct a movie that
will prove to him that you don’t need to make every frame
of the film jiggle like a naked fat man running on a
treadmill to give the audience the feeling they are in the
middle of an action movie. Not since the low budget horror
movie The Blair Witch Trial has there been a movie whose
camerawork is so frantically – and unnecessarily -- shaky
that it almost induces motion sickness as it does in Green
Zone.
Based on a novel by Rajiv Chandrasekaran, former Baghdad
(Iraq) Bureau Chief for The Washington Post, Greengrass’s
film is a two-hour lecture on how the Bush administration
deliberately lied about Saddam Hussein having weapons of
mass destruction so they could send US troops to invade
Iraq. It’s sugar-coated – barely – with a thin patina of
Bourne Identity-style action – complete with a Matt Damon
action figure to do most of the yelling – but it’s still
more of a political tirade than a political thriller.
