Sacramento Street Gallery proudly announces its eighth annual Small Works
Show, featuring small works by over 40 Cambridge visual artists. The group
exhibition, on view October 24 through December 5, features original works
about 12” x 12,” in a variety of mediums including painting, watercolor,
photography, sculpture, mixed media, stained glass, jewelry, and others.
The opening reception Friday, October 24, is open to the public and runs
from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Agassiz Baldwin Community Center, 20 Sacramento
Street, in Cambridge (between Massachusetts Avenue and Oxford Street).
Most artists will be present and artwork on view is also for sale.
The Small Works Show was originally organized in 2000 as a fundraiser to
support the Maud Morgan Visual Arts Program and Center, which provides
high-quality visual art classes for children in Cambridge, including a
ceramics studio, 3-D studio, and painting/drawing studio. |

“I participate in this show because it honors Maud Morgan, a large
personality whose work as an artist and mentor inspired many students,”
said returning artist Jane Kamine. “Several of her students became famous
as even bolder art-makers and curators. The show also honors activists in
the Agassiz community for their vision and persistence in trying to
establish a home for the arts in this community. Staff, architects,
lawyers and volunteers have sustained their excitement for years while
pursuing the dream of well-equipped studios where young people can
discover the joy of painting, sculpture, photography, and ceramics."
