¡°Always Delightfully Cool¡± - Summer Vacations in Northern New England, 1825-1900
Location: Boston Athanaeum
The exhibition will present a visual documentation of leisure travel in nineteenth-century New England with views of many of the region¡¯s grand hotels and scenic sites. Advertising prints for railroad lines, steamers, and stage coaches will be included. The show's contents will be drawn primarily from the Athen©¡um¡¯s rich collection of prints, photographs, maps, and vintage guidebooks.

Boston Ballet Performs Three Masterpieces

Menopause The Musical at the Stuart Street Playhouse

It’s The Hilarious Celebration of Women and The Change! The off-Broadway sensation MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL® is now playing at the Stuart Street Playhouse for a limited engagement. The hit production is a musical parody including 25 relyricized ‘60s and ’70s tunes that has audiences laughing, cheering and dancing in the aisles.

Performances at the Stuart Street Playhouse are Wednesday through Friday evenings at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2 PM and 5:30 PM, Sundays at 2 PM, with additional performances on the first and third Sunday of every month at 5:30 PM, and on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 2 PM. Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps Children Art Showcase
Location: John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse
SOUTH BOSTON — This spring, the colorful artwork created by the youth of the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps will be showcased at the John Joseph Moakley Federal Courthouse. The Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps provides education and therapeutic rehabilitation serves for at-risk children, ages seven through 18, who suffer from psychological, emotional, or behavioral problems, often as a result of neglect or abuse. This special exhibition features the children’s works that depict scenes of Boston, New England landscapes, and sports images.

There will be nearly 20 drawings and paintings on display from April 4 through June 27 in the Harbor Park Gallery of the Courthouse located at 1 Courthouse Way, in South Boston, Mass. Admission is free.

The Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps is a leader in child welfare, juvenile justice, and advocacy Massachusetts. The agency’s statewide services include educational, residential treatment, and community outreach programs, which support, educate, and rehabilitate children, helping them to grow into healthy and productive adult members of their communities. Rachid Ouramdane - Distant

Ouramdane, a French choreographer of Algerian descent, took a journey to Vietnam and Cambodia, where his father had fought in the 1950s as an Algerian conscript in the French army. The journey inspired Distant…, a work that explores the idea of being a foreigner—as a colonialist, as the colonized, and as an immigrant. His use of masks, images, sounds, and movement electrify his solo performances with an effect that “is surprisingly complex." - The New York Times. Prometheus Dance wraps up its 20th anniversary whirlwind of a season with several Boston premieres, Tabula Rasa and Prelude, along with a revisiting of the critically acclaimed Devil’s Wedding and La Giornata Omicida. Developed through a highly-charged and theatrical choreographic style, the dances of Prometheus (www.prometheusdance.org) are visually beautiful, physically intimate, and emotionally provocative ruminations about social issues and psychological intricacies.

Prometheus Dance is currently an ensemble of eight dancers performing contemporary dance / theatre created by the company's Artistic Directors Diane Arvanites-Noya and Tommy Neblett. Founded in 1987 by Noya, Prometheus Dance has become one of Massachusetts most outstanding and established modern dance companies, contributing quality dance performance, arts education and cultural service to the community.

The company is known for its performances of: the large-scale works Apokalypsis, concerning the world-wide refugee crisis; Dreams, based on Jungian symbolism; Impromptus & Intrigues, a modern setting of a Schubertiade; Anadimioupyia, exploring the beauty of Tourettes Syndrome; Opera Boston’s Nixon In China and The Pearl Fishers; repertory pieces performed to jazz, world and commissioned music; and outreach performances in public schools, homeless shelters and nursing homes.

Often included in the Boston area’s Ten Best in Dance lists, the company performs extensively both nationally and internationally.
