For the first half of the twentieth century, ballet continued to be dominated by Russian artists, including Bronislava Nijinska, Vaslav Nijinsky, Leonid Massine, Michel Fokine, Alexander Gorsky, Leonid Jacobson, and of course, George Balanchine.
